The Onboard team recently caught up with Finnish rookie Toni Kerkelä on the European leg of the Thirty Two tour in Honey Hillz, Oberjoch. Toni is less well known on these shores but has been producing some killer technical parts with the KBR Productions crew based out in Finland. With a silky smooth style and impressive bag of tricks he is definitely one to look out for in the future.
In between riding, the guys managed to grill Toni on his setup and gear preferences as well as his plans for the season.
Toni rides the Rome Postermania snowboard, which is one of Rome’s park focused boards. It is constructed with a flat section between the feet and rocker in the nose and tail for a solid combination between stability and playfulness. With more pop than the Artifact, thanks to Carbon V Stringers that run out from under the bindings, but less stiffness than the MOD, the Postermania represents the perfect board for the rider looking for a little more all round park performance instead of an all out jib board. Along with a large portion of the Rome team, the 390’s are Toni’s bindings of choice. With a mid flex and tonnes of adjustment options (including variable canting) the 390’s are both solid and responsive.
